House in Lugar Várzea III
Maia
2001

The project of this house completes the plan initiated some years ago with the other two constructions, ending, this way the foreseen group.
The program to develop is in everything identical to the one that already gave body to the two houses already constructed.
The house is organised in a vertical sequence in two juxtaposed different volumes: the basement, configured as a podium to solve the contact with the soil, contains the garage and the service areas; the remaining levels, filled with the domestic spaces as usually said, are concentrated on an unique volume that affirms itself as a counterpoint to the soft pendant that draws the soil.
The opportunity of this project resides in the possibility to reinterpret the presuppositions that were in the origin of the idea of architecture that orders the existent group.
The notion of limit that here is proposed intends to value the “presence” of the matter while body of the object.
“It is as if the specific nature of the project it is materialised in each one of its parts or organisation levels, already not needing to submit to any hierarchy to make sense. The part is independent syntactically of the whole, becoming synthesis of that whole.” (1)
In this sense the modulation that characterises the project doesn't have as it’s objective the repetition of any unit but, on the contrary, it results of the need of establishing a rhythm, a cadence, that allows to organise the articulation of the different elements that constitute it.
The unit of image that is  pursued also corresponds to the space unity with which is design its internal organisation.
